Making a one-man guitar studio look and feel like a real brand

The Challenge

Milton Keynes Guitar needed to compete with generic "find a tutor" directories using something no directory can offer: proof. Michael is a gigging guitarist first, ten-plus years on stage, session work, a Trinity College London grade pass, an original song, and the site had to carry that credibility instead of reading like a template with a phone number bolted on. It also had to do double duty: convert visitors into booked lessons and hold a growing library of performance clips, without turning into a bloated portfolio site that buries the actual offer (lessons, songwriting, session work).

Built so the site never has to say "trust me" โ€” the proof is on the page

Real gig photography, a Trinity College exam recording, and an original song replace generic stock imagery and copy-paste bios, so credibility is shown, not claimed.

Designing a site that scrolls like a performance, not a brochure

What We Did

We built Milton Keynes Guitar as a fully custom, single-page site, no template, no page builder, using GSAP and Lenis to choreograph the entire scroll experience. The hero opens on a custom chromakeyed illustration of a guitar that rotates frame-by-frame as you scroll, tied directly to scroll position rather than autoplay.

From there the page moves through a pinned statement section, a horizontal card-track for the three core services, an auto-scrolling marquee of genre-based lesson series (blues, rock, jazz, prog, reggae), and sticky-stacking photo sections built around real gig shots instead of stock imagery.

We added a "My Work" section linking directly to Michael's own performance clips, his Trinity College London grade recording, an original song, and a downloadable lesson prospectus, plus a Web Audio-powered interactive guitar built in Three.js, letting visitors click a string and hear a real plucked note. The whole build was audited and fixed for mobile end-to-end, since most first visits to a local tutor's site happen on a phone.

The Results

Live and ready to convert, with a full portfolio of real performance proof in place before the first paid lesson enquiry comes through the door.

"Absolutely love the website. The scroll animations, smooth transitions, and overall feel make it feel really premium and modern. Everything flows beautifully, and it's clear a lot of thought went into the details. I'm really happy with how it turned out!"
